How Equine Assisted Psychotherapy Can Help People Heal.

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy with a rescued horse at Hearts Landing Ranch

Recently, we welcomed a wonderful group of people to Hearts Landing Ranch to learn more about who we are, what we do, and why our rescued horses are such an important part of our work.

To everyone who visited the ranch, met our horses, asked questions, and took the time to learn about our mission, thank you.

We hope you left with a better understanding of how Equine Assisted Psychotherapy can create opportunities for healing, connection, and hope.

What Is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy?

At Hearts Landing Ranch, rescued horses are partners in a ground-based approach to Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. There is no riding involved.

Working alongside horses can provide opportunities to explore emotions, communication, trust, boundaries, relationships, and responses to stress. With the guidance of a mental health professional and equine specialist, participants engage in activities designed to support their individual therapeutic goals.

For some people, being beside a horse can make it easier to begin conversations that may feel difficult in a traditional office setting.

Supporting Veterans, First Responders and Families

We work with Veterans, first responders, trauma survivors, teens, families, and others experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief, and other mental health challenges.

We often hear questions such as:

  • "How can I help my son or daughter cope with anxiety or depression?"
  • "How can I help my husband or wife who is suffering from PTSD?"

There is no single answer to these questions, but finding appropriate professional support can be an important first step.

For Veterans and first responders, PTSD and trauma can affect much more than the individual. They can impact relationships, communication, trust, and family life. Equine Assisted Psychotherapy offers another therapeutic environment where participants can work on these challenges with professional support.

Why Rescued Horses?

Every horse at Hearts Landing Ranch has been rescued. Many came to us after experiencing abandonment, neglect, or circumstances that put their lives at risk.

Their stories are part of what makes this work so meaningful.

These horses were given another opportunity.

So are the people who come to our ranch.

Sometimes healing begins when we have a safe place to be seen, heard, and understood.

Be Part of the Story

Hearts Landing Ranch is about much more than horses.

It is about people.

It is about creating opportunities for healing, connection, and hope for those facing PTSD, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and other mental health challenges.

Thank you to everyone who came to the ranch and helped us share our story.

If you believe in our mission, we invite you to donate, volunteer, share our story, or tell someone who may need us that we are here.

Together, we can continue restoring lives through rescued horses.
